Dancing in the Sunshine
This was one of my favorite sessions from last summer. I have known this young lady since she was born. Watching her grow well, has made me feel old but more so it has changed me. Her mom is one of my best friends and always has nothing but sweet words to say about my photography. She was always willing to be my test subject in my collage days which sometimes went well and other times not so much. I will share what she wrote because it was truly from her heart and made me feel so grateful.
Rebecca wrote: “I absolutely LOVE these shots of Kylie! They capture the essence of her soul. A free spirit who has the ability to dance and enjoy the simple blessings of the life that God gave her. She is just a kid who will dance in the sunshine and recognizes the beauty in it. I think about all she goes through and how strong she is and how much I learn from her. This is just truly her. Thank you Abby Stohr for these priceless pictures.” |
Watching Kylie grow has really put perpective on how fast time really does fly. Moments like these are here and gone in a blink of an eye. We had debated wether or not to wait and take the photos after her braces were off but I said what the heck this is her now and we should just do it now! I am so glad we did. Believe it or not this is the first time I photographed a ten year old. I feel this can be such a lost moment in photo memories. Many shy away from the “lanky, braceface” stage but really this is a huge milestone for her. It is a time before she will blossom to a pre-teen and many physical and mental changes will happen.
So don’t wait for that perfect time to be captured because now is the perfect time and time is truly irreplaceable.
Happy Valentine’s Day
XOXO Abby
